There will be a few things to get used to for Scott McLaughlin when the 2026 season for the IndyCar Series gets underway, most notably a new spotter.

The 32-year-old New Zealander confirmed on social media he will have veteran spotter David Hunt as his trusty eyes in the sky for the No. 3 Team Penske Chevrolet, replacing Adam Fournier.

Hunt has built a reputation as one of the best spotters in the sport. He was most recently with Andretti Global in the same role on the No. 26 Honda driven by Colton Herta, who is now off bracing for his maiden campaign in Formula 2.

A representative from Team Penske confirmed to Motorsport.com that Fournier will be moving on for a role within the NASCAR landscape.

Fournier had been paired with McLaughlin since the end of 2020, when the latter made the switch from Supercars to IndyCar. Their time together included seven wins and 23 podiums over 85 starts, along with 1,304 laps led. Over that time, a close friendship also developed as McLaughlin credits Fournier with turning him into a fan of the Wisconsin Badgers in college football.
